How we collect our statistics

This website provides a dashboard view of traffic, usage and other quantitative statistics relating to the websites administered by the Gaois research group, Dublin City University. Here is how we collected the usage, performance and availability statistics:

• Usage statistics:
  • Usage statistics collected with Google Universal Analytics (UA) from 2006–22.
  • We migrated from UA to Google Analytics 4 (GA4) on 01/01/2023.
  • Usage statistics collected with GA4 in 2023.
  • We migrated from GA4 to Plausible on 01/01/2024.
  • Usage statistics collected with Plausible since 2024.
• Search statistics:
  • Search statistics collected with our own scripts/databases since 2006.
  • Certain search statistics (i.e. téarma.ie, logainm.ie, gaois.ie, corpas.ie, canúint.ie) collected with Plausible since 2024.
• Availability statistics:
  • Availability statistics obtained using the IPPatrol monitoring service from 2008–21 (when the company closed).
  • Availability statistics obtained using the UpTimeRobot monitoring service since 2021.

This data is not personal data, as defined by EU GDPR, and it does not allow us identify individual users.
